Denyer takes first look at the Dunlop 400 Townsville Street Circuit
10 July 2009
The Fujitsu Development Series got the first chance to test out the new street circuit today here in Townsville and the verdict is very positive from many of the DVS Drivers.
Grant Denyer in the Crimsafe 777 BF Falcon, took to the streets of Townsville and produced some pretty consistent lap times while working with his team to fine tune the car before tomorrow’s qualifying session.
"This looks like it will be a really interesting circuit as when you get in the racecar and take it on, you soon realise how tight the circuit really is. You are going to have to be really careful here and make sure you don't put a foot wrong, or the consequences will be brutal."
15 DVS Cars took to the track in two practice sessions today with Denyer posting the 5th fastest lap time at 1m.15.40.
It’s been a tough few weeks for Denyer who came into today's practice session after fighting off an infection which had him bed ridden for the past week. "I feel really good now but I was pretty crook with this infection. Now it’s about getting 777 set up and take some of the guess work out of play. As with any circuit when you race around it for the first time, you have to ease into it and get to know the track as best you can."
Qualifying for the Fujitsu Development Series starts at 9.30am tomorrow morning.
